BACKING UP YOUR FILES TO A CD OR DVD USING SONIC RECORD NOW
To back up your files to a DVD or CD you can use Sonic which is installed on all of the Teachers Toshiba laptops.

To open the burning program you need  to click on the RecordNow shortcut on your desktop

OR

Go to your Programs menu and find Sonic > RecordNow > RecordNow

Click to open program

To start adding the files you would like to backup you need to click on  Data Disc

To backup your files you need to click on the Add Files and Folders Button

A ‘Select files and folders to add’ box will display
Click on the drop down box to navigate to the location your files are stored
Eg: My Documents, Desktop files

Select files/folders you want to backup and click add

You do not need to backup shortcuts or program files
Remember if you are backing up music, photos and video, you may need more than 1 disc to do your backup as these type of files are usually quiet large in file size and therefore take up more space

When you have added the files to burn you should see the files listed like the window on the right displays

You can keep adding files/folders by clicking the Add Files and Folders button

You can name your backup disc by clicking in the Volume Label section and typing in a name for your backup. You do-not have to name your Disc but it is good practice. I have typed in an example of what you could name your backup. Eg: School social dance photos 12 June 07

When you have finished adding the file you would like to backup you need to click the Yellow Button in the bottom right hand corner to burn your files to disc.
When burning is complete your disc should eject
