‘Juvenile Haze’ communicates complex themes of the carefree youthful-ness that disguises the shallow engagement adolescences have with the world around them in contemporary day.

Through the pale rose-tinted colour palette of this series, the vapid simplicity of teenager’s lives in the 21st century is explored. The series portrays these themes by chronologically capturing the day’s events of a teenager living in 2020. The gentle, passive colour palette is a reference to the filmmaker Sofia Coppola and her highly feminine, nostalgic style of film. Through the compositional elements and the technical inspiration from artists, such as Sofia Coppola, ‘Juvenile Haze’ explores themes of the shallow, empty lives that teenagers fall prey to in the 21st century.
