Textiles and Design

For my Major Textiles Project, I created a patchwork denim trench coat, inspired by refurbishing denim, frayed edges, trench coat silhouette and linocut printing. I also made this coat with the intentions of it being reversible to feature both sides of the trench coat (First side: seams and frayed edges are not so visible. The second side: reveals frayed edges). Each denim square is recycled and comes from a pair of jeans from the op shop. Like the patches, the belt was made out of recycled denim jean waistbands. A linocut design is featured on the centre back of the first side. I intended on showing a different way to refurbish and recycle unwanted clothing.
