Indigenous Artist-in-Residence PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 12 June 2009 14:48

We have been lucky to have had the company of Indigenous artist,
Sally Harrison, with us for the past few days talking to the students
and painting a tryptych mural, with the assistance of indigenous
students, on the northern wall outside the SGN Hall. The mural
consists of three panels depicting How the Waratah Became Red/
the Five Islands/The Figtree. Sally spoke at Friday's assembly and
told how she has used painting as part of the healing process
needed to overcome her experiences as part of the Stolen
Generation.  She has accepted the title of "Aunty Sally"
for the students at the college - our first aboriginal aunty!
